WestJet Takes To The Skies, EH?

WestJet first took flight in 1996. I was eight years old. At that time the only airline I was aware of was American Airlines. WestJet started with three airplanes which flew between Calgary, Edmonton, Kelowna, Vancouver and Winnipeg. Obviously, the name WestJet comes from the fact that the airline was based in the western provinces of Canada. Ironically, WestJet's low cost flights were modelled after another American airline called Southwest Airlines. By the year 2000, WestJet expanded into Hamilton, Ontario and Eastern Canada. WestJet started flying out of Toronto, Ontario by 2004, increased flights throughout Canada and from there, expanded further to include international flights. WestJet grew very quickly despite competition. I was growing too. I was in highschool and was using WestJet for the first time to travel to Calgary, Alberta.
